Parts of a plant. Plants have roots, a stem, leaves and flowers.
The roots take in water from the soil. The stem holds the plant up. The leaves take in air and sunlight. The flowers are colourful and produce seeds. Trees have a thick, hard stem called a trunk. They have roots and branches. Some trees have fruit.
Deciduous trees lose their leaves in autumn.
Evergreen trees are green all year.

Some plants have flowers. Flowers have different parts.
Flowers, seeds and fruits
Some flowers turn into fruit. The fruit contains seeds. When the fruit falls to the ground, new plants grow from the seeds.
Non-flowering plants
Mosses and ferns don´t have flowers. They reproduce with spores.
Ferns are small and green and live in shady places.
Ferns do not have flowers or fruits.

ANIMALS
Animals are living things.
Living things are born, grow, reproduce and die. Living things have three life
processes: nutrition, interaction and reproduction.
Animals are classified into
vertebrates and invertebrates.
Vertebrates have a backbone. Mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and fish are
vertebrates.
Invertebrates don´t have a backbone. Insects, spiders and molluscs are invertebrates.
